Not usually a slap-up fan of Contrary Harem tropes but this for me actually worked.
Perhaps considering it was set against a dystopian post-apocalyptic background I found myself much more than willing to have the unconventional arrangement.

Not usually a corking fan of Contrary Harem tropes merely this for me actually worked.
Mayhap considering it was set against a dystopian post-apocalyptic groundwork I found myself much more willing to have the unconventional arrangement.
The female population has been decimated by a man-made virus that has wiped out 90% of them. On top of this nuclear warfare has likewise further ravaged the world leaving behind a new historic period of violence and fearfulness peculiarly for the fairer gender.
Audrey and her brother and attacked while trying to reach a safety zone and Audrey herself finds herself tranqued by Naught who is caput of security then escorted unconscious back to town.
Upon awakening, Audrey finds herself the prize of a spousal relationship lottery where all interested parties are welcome to put there name into a hat for the privilege of becoming i of her five husbands.
Yes, I child yous not 5 of them.
Well I suppose i/5 of a wife is better than no wife at all
Simply what I substantially loved about this reverse harem offering is that Audrey's new potential husbands were not all your typical jock beefcakes, just each brought at that place own unique personality and separate flavour to the table.
Nosotros accept Nix head of security protective, gruff, scarred and a flake of an ass.
Clark the shine handsome mannerly ladies man.
Graham the resident smart Techie who is definitely on the spectrum.
Danny the buff sweet puppy dog.
Mateo Mr Prepare It who has a night past and just wants to serve Audrey in whatsoever way he can.
Together Audrey and her five husbands are Clan Unhurt; all taking Zip'due south proper name as he is the Alpha and head of there new family.
Each Man was but so different and this was one of my most favourite aspects of "Theirs To Protect"
Each husband had his own distinct personality and wasn't your atypical romance hero.
This wasn't an especially dark read despite some recountings of by horrific misdemeanours just in that location was definitely some darker triggers; my level of dark is quite high so this for me was rather sweet.
Just to clarify though; there is no grayness ground here when it comes to Audrey's boys everything here is totally consensual they all courtroom her and treat her like a pampered princess.
There'due south just actually Nix that gets a flake bolchy with her bratty antics.
My only complaints here was really Audrey herself I establish her slightly abrasive at times and if she had but opened upwards and talked about what was bothering her and so things could have been resolved much sooner.
But I suppose their wouldnt really be a story then.
I likewise was a trifle shocked by her lack of visual grief over her blood brother's fate; I get she was trying not to think about it simply she hardly gave him a second thought afterward arriving in boondocks.
The merely times she seemed to react here was when she was thinking well-nigh escaping.
Just essentially at its heart, this was a really interesting read that I actually did adore.
Then uniquely different and a keen start to a new series.
I accessed "Theirs to Protect" (The Matrimony Lottery, #1) with my KU subscription.
All opinions are entirely my own.

HOLY BATMAN IN UNICORN PAJAMAS!

The writing was captivating, angsty, funny, bright AND sexy!!
The plot was insanely good. Loved the whole reason why women were nearly extinct. Information technology was such a solid and compelling story.

Audrey and her brother Charlie leaves the sanctuary of her uncles bunker after hiding away for eight years to protect Audrey. The world is a mess. Women are so few and in high demand from the ruthless men inhabiting a post apocalyptic earth.

After beingness attacked by enemy men, Audrey loses her brother and finds herself in the arms of Nix. A soldier in a new world, living in a society where 1 woman has to marry 5 men.

Audrey is so bloody stubborn and the sassiness is pouring out of her! She is also kind and loving and I really liked her as a graphic symbol!

And her husbands ? I could cry of joy, that's how adept they were.

Sweet, muscled, teddy behave, Danny.
Smart, nerdy and bad-mannered Graham.
Pretty, classy and smartass, Clark.
Loving, protective and cleaved Mateo.
And last, just not to the lowest degree.
Badass, tattooed, scary and vehement, Goose egg.
I loved them all and their personalities co-existed and then well!

This book was continually beingness advertised on another social media site and I threw circumspection to the wind and selected it. Plus, it was gratuitous on Kindle and that's plenty enticement. Also nosotros all demand a chip of fluff in our reading selection.

Theirs to Protect is set in a post apocalyptic U.s.a. where 90% of the female population has been decimated. Leaving a 12 to 1 ratio in the Specifically, our story takes place in the New Republic of Texas. But don't worry, we even so take church weddings in the post-apocalypse and as the story opens a helpmate is existence wed to the 5 husbands who won her in the marriage
lottery. I similar to call back information technology'south a chip like The Bachelorette but instead of one human, she gets to accept the concluding v home.

The woman in question is Audrey who has been training heavily with her brother, Charlie at their uncle's bunker. Only when Charlie is killed and Audrey runs into some trouble, she finds herself in a town where the lottery is happening. Although Audrey tries to escape, nothing will end her upcoming marriage to Phoenix(Zippo), Clark, Graham, Mateo, and Danny. With their "I Dos", Clan Hale is born and Audrey and her husbands volition face many obstacles in their first number of weeks.

What I Idea:

I didn't know that reverse harem stories were even an avenue in the romance/erotica literary world, but now my recommendations are flooded with them. I actually told a few work colleagues that I was reading this book and well, as you can imagine there has been a bit of laughter and teasing about my protagonist and her 5 men. Now I wouldn't consider myself an expert at all in this genre and more experienced readers than I accept offered a diverseness of rich polarizing reviews. Personally, I discover myself having liked the story.

Now our main protagonist has been receiving a lot of attention for her behavior for much of the story. But if Audrey hadn't been a stiff willed woman, I probably wouldn't accept stuck around. Stasia Black was able to balance six narrative voices in this story, but much of the story nonetheless seems to centre primarily on Audrey and Nil. The simply person I really couldn't enjoy reading about (as well the villians) was hubby Danny. When yous compare a human being trying to kiss you with a panting dog, I am merely blocked off from any sexual entreatment at all.

Speaking of sexual practice, I am not going to lie that one of my questions about reading this book was how exactly this is all supposed to play out in the bedroom. Well, all five guys and the heroine share a bed. Don't worry, there is this whole conversation about consent. Because you have 5 guys there is more than than one chapter devoted to the love scene and after awhile I was a bit bored. Only because some of the actions were a chip repetitive in places and as well because some of the dialogue is a bit cringeworthy. Nix has this thought in his head that all of the men are similar the prey approaching their impale( Audrey) and I was similar " WTF?" Also I must mention again that Danny irritated me, his dialogue simply didn't seem to fit his age. My apologies if yous were a Danny fan. I was hands down a fan of Mateo!

Overall, I did enjoy the world building and the concept. At that place were good guys and villains and I liked the back story of Audrey and her husbands.

So good every time!!

This is the 3rd time I've read this, and it'southward just equally practiced every time. This was the offset book I always read by Stasia Black years ago, and it was the first reverse harem for me besides. This series concluded upwardly condign i of my favorites. Leading to my love of RHs and in particular the "helpmate lottery" premise.

Audrey finds herself alone and on the run from bad guys in a dystopian future where most women were killed past a terrorist bioweapon attack and nigh of the world has been nuked to hell. She had been on the way to a fabulous community of women, where they could live a safe life away from predatory men. Audrey gets rescued and taken to Jacob'due south Well, a township trying to rebuild after 'The Fall'. To be able to rebuild, societal norms are changed, and rules put into place. Such as every women gets married to 5 men, whose names get randomly pulled in a lottery.

I tell you what though, she won the lottery that'due south for certain. With hunky soldier Nix, supercharmer Clark, smart and shy Graham, attentive loving Matteo, and energetic sweetheart Danny, Audrey hit the jackpot. The guys went out of their manner to spoil Audrey with bartered goodies, to protect her and make her feel safe, but best of all they lavished her with attending and care. It goes without maxim they knocked her socks and everything else off in the sleeping accommodation as well.

Equally is ever the case, Utopia isn't ever what it seems. Audrey has no plans to stay and be some stranger'due south prize baby maker, she's gonna find a fashion to Nomansland one fashion or the other. Her husbands realized as they came to care more and more for Audrey, that making her happy might mean that they lose her forever. As Audrey comes to care for her men, she realizes she will do anything to keep them safe, including letting them go.

I love this series. This is the opener and sets the stage for the craziness that's to come in the overarching storyline. Such that many secrets abound, there's untold political machinations working behind the scenes, secret alliances, backstabbing betrayals, shocking prepare-ups, and to elevation it off basically the final battle against good and evil for the new world. I as well dear that Stasia's writing is down to globe relatable and pulls y'all right in. To top it off, she does an amazing task of making each man different, individually unique, sexy as hell in their own way and memorable. I highly recommend!

Even though this is an ARC review, I will always shoot y'all straight. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I dearest a good dystopian and the blurb for this one intrigued me.

But information technology was obvious early that Audrey was going to annoy me. And annoy me she did. It seemed she made ane bad decision after another.
She definitely came close to TSTL several times.

I liked the globe building and the guys. And honestly I'd no intention of continuing on with this series but...
I read the epilogue and I'm curious.

Dystopian society? Check
One Heroine and five Heroes ? Bank check

What could go wrong?

A lot.

The first half of the book was hard to get through. The Heroine was a total B and didn't want to be with the guys. I get it, she had plans and her plans didn't involve in staying in a Utopian society where women were treated nicely and you had five men worship y'all, but her personality was awful.

I kept on reading considering I was curious to where the storyline would become.

Then we get a shift in the plot and okay maybe I understand the Heroine more, but oh no, you got to throw in the angst. Y'all know where the whole plot could take been solved past 1 fucking conversation. I tin can't stand up this storyline. I don't know why authors do this.

I waited for anybody to merely blow up in everyone's faces and when it finally did, I felt like FINALLY the storyline was getting somewhere and by the time that happened I was at the 85% mark.

I get at that place aren't many reverse harem books that contain good storyline and kink and steam. Information technology seems there is a lot of these books but at that place'southward no steam so props to the author for making this one kinky.

I'll requite some other book a go because picking are slim but judging on the writing mode (overly descriptive writing, filler chapters, tedious footstep and terrible angsty plot) I'thou non sure if this is for me.

From page i I knew Theirs to Protect was in a league all it's own and could not exist compared to those other books! Stasia has crafted an astonishing and vivid post-apocalyptic world; a world although fictional feels very real.

Each character introduced is deeply and beautifully created. Each of our five heroes are multifaceted... they are men who crave companionship simply feel securely and take experienced and witnessed some of the worst horrors imaginable. They are beautiful, sexy alphas and everything you look for in a book fellow... some are even beautifully broken.

Our heroine is potent, violent and independent. In a earth brusque on women she stays true to herself while battling her own dark demons. I loved watching her abound... grow as a person, wife, partner and member of social club.

Although the story is wonderfully energetic and fascinating information technology also touches on many issues we bargain with... she touches on sexual slavery, trafficking and abuse; domestic abuse; rape; the exploitation of women; and survivor's guilt. Stasia handles each issue with grace and compassion.

I am utterly and completely blown away past Stasia and Theirs to Protect and cannot look to run across what happens next in Jacob'due south Well Township!

The book takes place in a postal service-apocalyptic earth where there is only 1 woman for every 12 men. The story revolves around Audrey and her 5 husbands. Aye, there's some Stockholm syndrome and the story was fairly predictable, but I all the same found it enjoyable. Information technology was crazy hot and has definitely made me want to read more than reverse harem books, but I will admit that there'southward some logistical parts with 1 woman having sexual activity with v men that had me cringing a bit. I actually liked all of Audrey'southward husbands, only Matteo'due south story is the 1 that stuck with me the nearly. There were definitely some heartbreaking moments in this book. The pacing of the story was good, though some aspects of the story moved/resolved speedily, especially the ending. Overall, I enjoyed this i and the epilogue (from a surprise bespeak of view!) set up up the next book perfectly.

I thought the narrator did a cracking task giving each character a distinct voice and I didn't have a hard fourth dimension figuring out who was speaking. Overall though, I thought Smokey St. Clair did an amazing job and expect forward to listening to more than of his titles.

I liked that she stayed stubborn throughout the volume though. Thankfully information technology didn't completely seem like Stockholm Syndrome in the end. You would think they would train the women being that it is so unsafe out in that location for them.
I but hope that all of the points that she brought upwards are addressed and changed in the next book. Raffling off women to be a bride is just as bad as those keeping women as slaves. Neither give women a selection. None of the guys run across annihilation incorrect with this either. They go along rationalizing that women take it worse outside of the town. They call up that the women should exist eternally grateful to them even though they are constantly nether watch.
Also I would like to know the "science" behind why only the women were dying from a virus.

I know this was recently published but information technology needed to be proofread once more. In that location were mistakes that should accept been easily caught.

Well, aside from the bride lotto, everyone seems to have a place. It's quiet, quaint, the typical Mayberry of the opposite harem world. In any case, not all is what it seems on the surface. It goes much deeper.....

... but apparently not too deep because it's still a shallow novel with picayune depth. It's awesome the characters accept backstories, and we take hold of a glimpse of the growing amore between our lovers, simply information technology is lacking. Combined with the plentiful grammatical errors, and at that place we go. 3 star rating, could have been a four.

This sounds like a great plan correct?
Except I went and found Nix, Clark, Danny, Mateo and Graham, in some small-scale post apocalypse settlement and boy did I autumn hard. Not for the half-dozen and eight packs on the cover. Merely for the devotion and appreciation this bunch take for their raffle won married woman. I honey how they come up together and use their different personalities, jobs, insecurities and everything they are to brand their sexagon relationship one whatever daughter tin can dream.

Now I am off to volume ii on a chance that I will become a glimpse of these v guys because just 1 volume is not enough.

This was such a slap-up story! At first I idea it was some other i of those worn out plot ideas (that I'm honestly beginning to become sick of) simply I was wrong! I loved Audrey. I liked her snark and that she had one hell of a courage. I liked how she would come upwards with a plan and she would commit to it. She did not requite in and give up when faced with an obstacle, she soldered through. And that story about the dark-green beans? Priceless. We demand more heroines like Audrey, in my opinion.
And the guys! Sigh. I honestly could not settle on which of the guys I loved and adored more (though, Mateo for sure, lol). I would think "I love this 1 more" and and so one of the other guys would exercise or say something and I would exist like "no, I want him". And that'due south the beauty of RH - why choose when yous can have all, right?
The guys were and so diverse and it is seriously a shame that we did not become to spend more time with each of them.
Y'all know that the writing Is astonishing when you outset to forget that these characters are not, in fact, real.

All in all, what more than can I say? I laughed, I swooned, I raged and I despaired. It was amazing and I want more.

This volume was something else. Very emotional. The connexion Aubrey had with each of her husbands, then with them together was great. Corking character development & bang-up story.

I couldn't stop it. I simply couldn't. The world building was ok. I really wish the author was more interested in the dystopian genre because her lack of involvement made it fall apartment fifty-fifty though it had potential. SPOILER ALERT! Her brother "dies" and the author totally fails by not using that to pull on our center strings. The heroine refuses to mourn his loss and I feel like that was a missed opportunity to become the reader emotionally involved.

My other trouble with the main character was that she went from being an innocent inexperienced virgin to a ascendant femme fatale type in no time. It really ruined the sexual activity scenes for me. She was snobby and seemed completely out of character.

I likewise felt the writer spent more time telling united states what happened instead of showing us. She really failed in building good chemistry between the characters past non having enough steamy or romantic interactions. Fifty-fifty i on 1 time betwixt the characters could accept helped develop the relationships. I wasn't exactly expecting a slow fire, just a trivial chip of steam would have been nice. So much missed opportunity.

My other problem was the heroine's failure to be honest with the male characters. Information technology is one of those situations where a little flake of honesty and communication would aid solve all the bug the characters are facing. That is lazy writing at its finest. The author is as well lazy to create original or realistic obstacles and uses the characters' ain stupidity to get in their way.

I don't always write reviews, but when a book has so much promise and starts off interesting only to fall off the rails after I have invested time in it I go frustrated.

Offset of all, got to say, this book surprised me. I knew it was a RH story and that involved v men and 1 woman in a relationship and having read few others books in this genre , I was sort of expecting the usual narrative. Well folks, there is nothing typical about Theirs To Protect .

This is a compelling, highly original, thought provoking, engrossing tale of what ifs . What if we attack each other and in the process almost destroy the female race, the power filigree and everyday life as we know information technology?

Stasia Black assuredly/skillfully/swiftly/accurately writes a story that volition take you into an audacious, entertaining , passionate, compelling and intense roller coaster of emotions and situations; as well every bit, not letting you break free of it until the last pages of the book.

Reading this volume was a pleasure; and even though, it's advertised as an standalone with a HEA , that it is ( a very satisfying one ) and there are non cliffhangers; it's my opinion the author left the door open for futurity books. A good affair in my eyes, as the story line is very creative and anarchistic.

I voluntarily review an ARC of this book for my honest opinion.

This was my 1st of whatsoever Harlem books. I will admit that I didn't fifty-fifty know the genre existed. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the book—mostly because it had more plot than sex, and the plot was awesome. I'one thousand a romantic at center. I generally don't read novels that don't have romance in them and I like beloved triangles if they are washed well. But with this novel, I preferred the dystopian aspect over the romance. This was my 1st of whatsoever Harlem books. I volition acknowledge that I didn't even know the genre existed. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the book—by and large because information technology had more than plot than sex activity, and the plot was awesome. I'm a romantic at heart. I more often than not don't read novels that don't take romance in them and I like love triangles if they are washed well. But with this novel, I preferred the dystopian aspect over the romance. Reading sex involving five husbands was more than out of curiosity and the blurb had me piqued.
The honeymoon was written well, but the other scenes were too much for me and not at all my taste. My mouth is still hanging open at Audrey's statement of, "Danny Hale, you requite me your cum right at present!"
What the hell? I'thousand yet laughing at that.

The plot of Protection was intriguing and a page turner. I was definitely interested in finding out how Audrey'south marriage would work out. Especially, since she was against information technology at get-go, which made the story realistic. I liked that she idea the thought of marrying 5 men was insane. I couldn't expect to meet how she went from rebellious to compliant—willing to marry them as information technology was introduced in the Prologue.

The writer set-up the beginning well with letting us get to know some of the husbands beforehand, and not just diving into sex. I liked all the husbands, just Nix and Mateo were my favorite. On the flip side, I've read third Limited between 2 characters before where the chapter titles were labeled. But this was the first fourth dimension where I've read multiple 3rd person Express. I felt that I got to know Audrey, Nix , and Mateo, but honestly it was a fleck confusing being in the other guy's heads. Beingness third person it was more than impersonal and since they were more than of side characters, I got confused with who's caput I was supposed to be in. I would accept to become back to see who'south POV it was in. I thought information technology would've been better for it to just have been from the iii main character POV's, or only wrote in 3rd Limited with no title headers. Just that's simply my a-hole opinion.
That was one reason I didn't rate the book higher than a 4 star, considering I got confused with who's head I was in a lot. The book was fairly well-written, but in that location was a lot of repetition. And I idea the formatting was weird. Novels generally don't accept spaces between all the dialogue, merely maybe that just this writer's formatting style. And I like the fuck bomb just as much as the next person, just I idea the cussing was extreme in this book—overused.

I liked Audrey for the most function, simply there were times that I felt at that place were some character contradiction. I was irked with her for not telling Nix and her husbands about the state of affairs she was in. By not doing so, it could've still put them in danger—every bit well as the other women by not warning them. If not worse. I think it was the fourth dimension frame with why I felt this mode. Audrey had several weeks to think almost her decision, but she yet went through with it. Verses if she'd made the conclusion within a affair of days, so I could chalk it upwards to her not having time to make a rational option. That was not the instance and when Audrey realized that she'd made a mistake it was too late.
Overall, this was a good volume. I can definitely see what the appeal is, and why this series has go so popular. It was written in a realistic way and made me question what I would do if I was put in that predicament and how I would've handled it.
The Epilogue made me interested in reading Charlie'south story. Hopefully, he has a somewhat happy ending.

Stopped reading at 59%. This novel is like a porn film. There is no "romance". It'southward just group sex followed by inconsequential minutae with tidbits of the guys' history. I'm tired of waiting for the romance; at this rate, it's never going to happen. So i call this i False Advertising. I didn't option up this volume to come across a victimized woman become more victimized by those people who are supposed to protect her. If i wanted that, I would read the newspapers.

Also I honestly think in that location are several missing chapters. At the point in Mateo's workshop when she's running for the motorcycle, i thought she was going to brand a break for it. And so suddenly she'south getting married. Um, no. Lots of time in between that moment and the wedding mean solar day. Where are those chapters of romance??? Additionally, this novel is rife with grammatical and editing errors. Though i actually want to know what happens, I don't think this novel will satisfy me at all. Given the false advertising, I'grand calculation this author to my Do Not Read list.

She loves writing, reading, listening to podcasts, and has recently taken upwardly biking after a 20-year sabbatical (and has the bumps and bruises to prove it). She lives with her own personal cheerleader, aka, her handsome husband, and their teenage son. Wow. Typing that makes her feel old. And writing about herself in the third person makes her feel a little like a nutjob, but ahem! Where were nosotros?

Stasia's fatigued to romantic stories that don't take the easy way out. She wants to encounter below people's veneer and poke into their dark places, their twisted motives, and their deepest desires. Basically, she wants to create characters that brand readers alternately express joy, cry ugly tears, want to toss their kindles across the room, and then declare they have a new FBB (forever book boyfriend).
